Drug to Treat Osteoarthrosis Cyclic Phosphatidic Acid

Research outcomes by Dr. Kimiko Murofushi, professor emeritus at Ochanomizu University, have demonstrated from different angles that synthesized cyclic phosphatidic acid (2ccPA: 2-carba-cyclic phosphatidic acid) is effective in enhancing hyaluronic acid production, inhibiting tumor metastasis, and other actions.
Having completed proofs of concepts for application in the areas of orthopedics and oncology, we are now preparing for clinical studies to investigate 2ccPA for the indication of osteoarthrosis. In addition, we have been eagerly looking for pharmaceutical companies for partnership in developing 2ccPA as a candidate pharmaceutical compound.

In the area of orthopedics, there are few effective drugs for osteoarthrosis, and practically none to fundamentally cure the disease. A notable tendency of increase in patient populations in Japan and overseas is anticipated for years to come.

Based on the mechanism of action of cyclic phosphatidic acid, first discovered on the globe, SANSHO Co. has been advancing research and development following our policy to contribute to treatment of diseases in different areas.

Heat Shock Protein Inducer Steryl Glycoside

Proteins have been discovered that are induced to protect cells, according to observations of cultured human and animal cells given heat and shock. These proteins were then named heat shock proteins (HSP). It was later shown that HSPs induced in cells act to defend intracellular proteins against destruction caused by physiological stress.
An inducer of HSPs, steryl glycoside may have applications in medicine and also in the area of health food.

Drug to Treat Infections Macrolide Antibiotics

On this planet, there are many people suffering from infections, with one third of causes of death reportedly being infections. Macrolide antibiotics have been extensively used for conditions such as respiratory infections in children and adults since a long time ago. These antibiotics exert excellent effects while causing extremely few adverse reactions.
As a result of long-term joint research with Professor Fumio Kato, College of Pharmacy of Toho University, SANSHO Co. has succeeded in biosynthesis of a new 16-membered macrolide compound and confirmation of its effects by conducting recombinant experiments with Micromonospora.

Particularly, in recent years, many biologic products, mainly antibody preparations, were developed, and their dramatic effects have been reported.
TELIN is a compound that inhibits telomerase, which is massively produced in various types of cancer cells. It is a new low-molecular compound shown in vitro to have extremely effective actions.
